Da’Naja Mosley, Founder and President

Da’Naja Mosley, a 17-year-old visionary from Dallas, TX, is a force to be reckoned with. Known for her charisma and entrepreneurial spirit, she has already left a significant mark on her community and beyond. Da’Naja is a high school senior in an Early College Nursing Academy, taking core Nursing classes at the University of Texas Arlington College of Nursing and Health Innovation this fall semester 2023. A testament to her exceptional dedication, Da’Naja is set to graduate from high school with both her high school diploma and Associates of Science degree in Nursing in May of 2024. Her journey doesn't stop there - fueled by her academic dedication and determination, she plans to earn her Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing by the summer of 2025.

With a remarkable 4.538 GPA, Da’Naja stands as a shining example of academic prowess, ranking 2nd among 566 students in her class. Her commitment to education earned her a coveted membership in the National Honors Society (NHS) and a distinguished place in the Gifted and Talented Program. In recognition of her exceptional dedication to learning, she received the prestigious 'All A’s Award' from GPISD, commending her for maintaining straight A's from kindergarten to the present.

As Da’Naja pursued her educational path, she could not overlook the profound challenges faced by Black students seeking careers in medicine and healthcare. The lack of resources and opportunities, along with the glaring underrepresentation of Black professionals in the medical field (with only 6% of physicians identifying as Black), fueled her determination to effect positive change.

In response to these disparities, Da’Naja took a bold step to address the issue head-on. She founded The ‘Society of Black Students in Healthcare,’ an organization aimed at bridging the gap and creating a level playing field for aspiring Black healthcare professionals. Her vision extended beyond merely addressing the barriers faced by Black students; she sought to inspire future generations and create a supportive, empowering community that celebrates diversity and representation in the healthcare industry.

Through her organization, Da’Naja strives to maximize the impact of her efforts, offering much-needed resources, guidance, and mentorship to Black students pursuing careers in healthcare. By creating an inclusive platform that nurtures talent and fosters a sense of belonging, she hopes to encourage more Black professionals to pursue medical careers and shatter the barriers that have held them back for far too long.

Da’Naja Mosley's unwavering commitment to driving positive change in the healthcare industry has already made a profound difference. Her leadership and dedication serve as an inspiration to others, and her legacy will undoubtedly leave an indelible mark on the future of healthcare, paving the way for a more diverse, equitable, and representative profession.
